The term Kachina comes from The Hopi people who live in the Southwestern part of the United States.
Kachina’s are powerful ancestor spirits called upon to help teach the Hopi people. There are over 300 different Kachinas that represent different spirits and teachings. At Kachina Canine Communication this concept has been taken to teach you about how to empower your dog through an holistic understanding of canine behaviour and wellbeing.
The story of how the Kachina came to the Hopi people starts off long ago in an ancient village. The village people were suffering from starvation and a time of drought. In time, food stores became so low that the Hopi people began to die. All hope was gone for the villagers, and upon seeing this suffering the Kachina took pity on them. The Kachina decided to show themselves and transformed into a human-like form and used their power to help the Hopi people to grow food, bring rain and heal the sick through prayers of song and dance.
Initially, the people were afraid of the Kachinas as they had never seen them before; they thought they might be evil. They decided to gather up arms and drive the Kachinas out of the village. The Kachinas, however, blessed the people through song and dance; they produced gifts of food for the starving, helped heal the sick and brought rain for the thirsty crops.
The Hopi people became so thankful to the Kachinas, that they asked them to become a part of their tribe and they lived side by side in the village for many years. No longer hungry or dependent on the weather, the Hopi people started to became lazy. They began to neglect their way of life.
Upon seeing this behaviour, the Kachinas thought it best to leave. Realising what was about to happen, the people begged the Kachinas to stay…but they refused. However, the Kachinas agreed to teach the Hopi people how to prepare offerings, the ceremonial dress, the songs and dances and how to harness the power over the elements. Only when properly performed, will the true spirits deliver their prayers to bring rain, bountiful harvests, health and happiness to all the people of the world.
At Kachina Canine Communication the story about a Kachina is used to teach you about how to optimise your dog’s health and wellbeing.
